Nomination highlights QL+ contributions towards helping active duty and disabled veterans
MCLEAN, Va./SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Aug. 24, 2010— Quality of Life Plus (QL+) is pleased to announce its nomination for the Paul Wolff Accessibility Advocacy Award (PWAAA).
The award, presented annually by the San Luis Obispo Community Foundation, recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses making significant contributions towards the creation of a barrier-free community for people with disabilities in San Luis Obispo County. Nominees must show proven and consistent advocacy efforts towards equality for people with disabilities in the San Luis Obispo region. Winners are chosen by a selection committee comprised of representatives from various organizations serving the local disabled community.
The QL+ nomination recognizes the not-for-profit organization’s innovative research and development work at the QL+ Laboratory, a collaborative learning center located on-campus at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo. At the QL+ Lab, students and faculty members work together as part of their educational curriculum to develop prosthetics and other innovative solutions that improve the lives of America’s wounded heroes.
“QL+ is very excited to be nominated in the business category for the Paul Wolff Accessibility Advocacy Award,” said Scott Monett, Executive Director of the QL+ Program. “It’s a great honor for us and reflects our ongoing effort to significantly enhance mobility and accessibility for all, especially our nation’s heroes.”
Jon Monett, chairman and founder of the QL+, and Scott Monett will attend the PWAAA Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at the Clarke Center for the Performing Arts in Arroyo Grande, Calif. The event will feature a special benefit performance by comedian Josh Blue, winner of NBC’s ‘Last Comic Standing’ in 2006.
